The Mexican Prosecutor’s Office linked the former governor of the central state of Aguascalientes Luis Armando Reynoso Femat to the process for the crime of tax fraud in the years 2012, 2013 and 2014, the agency reported this Sunday.
In a statement, the Prosecutor’s Office specified that the former official will be able to follow the process in freedom since the crime against him does not merit informal preventive detention, although he must present himself every 15 days to the Precautionary Measures Unit to sign and guarantee his appearance. in the criminal process that was initiated.
The judge determined that the defense did not distort the evidence provided by the Public Ministry of the Specialized Unit in Investigation of Operations with Resources of Illicit Origin and of Counterfeiting or Alteration of Currency of the Special Prosecutor’s Office in Investigation of Organized Crime, which they supported the imputation made.
This is the second time that the former president has been put on trial because in 2019 he was sentenced to two years and nine months in prison accused of having spent 13.8 million pesos (almost 690,000 dollars) from the treasury to buy a tomograph, operation which was later discovered to be a fraud.
Despite the sentence, he was granted the substitution of the prison sentence for work in favor of the community.
The politician from the conservative National Action Party (PAN), who ruled Aguascalientes between December 2004 and November 2010, had already been arrested in 2013 and 2014, but on both occasions he paid bail to face the processes in freedom.
