Beyond the city, three Tijuana getaways

An unmissable hotel, the best view of Ensenada from a viewpoint, a day at the beach, and the best artisan bread in the area are just some of the attractions around Tijuana.

Visiting Tijuana is an experience in itself. However, when the itinerary includes extra days and a car is available, it is worth exploring the offerings that surround the border city. These are three must-see getaways:

Ensenada

Ensenada viewpoint

To have the best view of Ensenada and, perhaps, one of the most beautiful in the Pacific, you have to head north of the municipality. This viewpoint is an obligatory stop on a trip around Tijuana.

Guadalupe meeting point

Everything about this hotel is spectacular, from the cabins that appear to be suspended over the valley to its two restaurants, one exclusively for guests and Origen, which is open to the public (and, of course, its own orchard).

Rosarito

Sun and beach

In Rosarito, the day is spent between its beaches and in the sun. Punta Morro and La Misión are two good options to enjoy on the sand or ride waves, dive or cross the El Humedal estuary by kayak.

By the way, one of the classic flavors of Rosarito is lobster, at La Casa de la Langosta they serve the best specimens.

Tecate

The Best Bread in Tecate

In addition to being a Magical Town and a winegrower, Tecate is the capital of artisan bread. This bakery has been baking since 1969. It is said that at the beginning only three bakers made everything and today almost 40 work there. Its more than 200 different varieties of bread are baked in a brick oven. The shells, the bolillos and their butter sticks are their

Bichi

This young winery started operations in 2014. It produces organic, natural, and expressive wines from its land. Little by little, it has become the Tecate reference to try great labels.
