Agents from the National Migration Institute (INM) and the National Guard of Mexico found 162 abandoned Central American migrants, including 23 unaccompanied minors, in the municipality of Camargo, in the northeastern state of Tamaulipas.

In a statement, the INM reported this Sunday that the discovery occurred in a winery located in the community of Santa Anita, in the aforementioned municipality.

In addition, the INM stated that most of the people, originally from Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador, had been without food and water for five days, and had symptoms of dehydration and malnutrition.

Of the total, 101 people traveled in family, and 23 minors traveled alone.

In the report, the INM said that after being helped, some people manifested nervous breakdowns and several of them asked the Mexican authorities for help to return to their country of origin.
