Faced with the health emergency caused by Covid-19, the Biden administration indefinitely extended the expulsion of migrants to Mexico under title 42, stipulated by former President Donald Trump in March 2020; that is why hundreds of people were expelled to the states of Baja California, Chihuahua, Tamaulipas, and Sonora.

In Sonora, around 300 people are received daily, including children, adolescents and family nuclei, who are cared for in the public shelters that exist in the entity in the municipalities of Hermosillo, Agua Prieta, Nogales and San Luis Río Colorado.

According to the US Department of Homeland Security, title 42 individuals will continue to be prosecuted, mostly expelling single adults and families found on the Southwest border.

Since March, Fundación De Mano a Mano arrived in Hermosillo with the purpose of supporting the vulnerable people of the entity by carrying out different activities to collect food, clothing and basic necessities to be delivered to the inhabitants of the communities.

Lizeth Castro, president of the foundation shared that the institution was created on September 19, 2019 as a result of the earthquake that occurred in Mexico City with the aim of helping people affected by the incident, and models for the I develop projects in favor of vulnerable families.

For 4 years they have worked in different states of the Republic such as Mexico, Puebla and Sonora, in Hermosillo, the rehabilitation and reforestation of the San Vicente, Jorge Valdez, Tierra Nueva, Oasis Lantana, Real del Cobre and La Esperanza parks was carried out, In addition, cleaning campaigns were carried out in the Norberto Ortega and Internacional channels.

On this occasion, due to the economic and social impact of Covid-19, they will work in the “Luz y Salvación Emanuel” dining room where 64 girls and boys are served providing food security and a place with better facilities for the dining room.

“We took on the task of helping a children’s soup kitchen in the Paseo del Pedregal neighborhood in Hermosillo, the authorities of DIF Sonora shared information to help the shelters, they are asking citizens to help them because there is not enough support right now. ”, He commented.

Among the items that are required to be delivered to the shelters are diapers, shampoo, soap, clothes, pajamas, shoes for boys and girls from 3 months to 12 years of age, who are in safe keeping and are mostly Central Americans.
