Change of dates for the Mexico Formula 1 Grand Prix

The Formula 1 Grand Prix in Mexico City will be held despite the fact that the country is experiencing the third wave of coronavirus infections, but it will modify its dates and will take place a week after the originally stipulated, the organizers reported on Saturday, August 28th.

The new date for the event will be from November 5 to 7 at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez located in the capital of the country. Previously, the International Automobile Federation (FIA) had assigned the country the date October 31st.

“We are very happy to receive confirmation from FIA that we will be able to celebrate the Mexico Grand Prix. The new date gives us the certainty that we will have this event in 2021 ”, said Federico González, general director of the event.

“Now, our main occupation will be to maintain coordinated work with the authorities of Mexico City to guarantee a safe experience for all attendees.”

10 days ago, the government and the organizers of the Japanese Grand Prix announced the cancellation of the race due to the high number of infections in that Asian country. That event was scheduled to take place on October 10th.
