The five most peaceful states in the country, according to the Peace in Mexico Index (IPM) of the Institute for the Economy and Peace (IEP), are:

The cities with the highest proportion of the population that feel insecure were Fresnillo, Cancún, Ecatepec de Morelos, Coatzacoalcos, Naucalpan de Juárez and Tonalá.
