The Government of Mexico City inaugurated the second stage of the Gran Canal Linear Park, with an investment of 88.9 million pesos, from the section of Avenida Del Peñón to Eje 1 Norte.

The work in total had an investment of 184.8 million pesos for the construction of green areas, bicycle paths, dog park, playgrounds, outdoor theater, skate park, fountains, regulator, irrigation network as well as led public lighting.

“We are delivering the Second Stage of this beautiful Linear Park that benefits more than 100,000 families, 20 neighborhoods and that represents the essence of our project, why? Because it is not only making a park, here what we are doing is social justice, that’s what the Fourth Transformation of Mexico’s public life is all about,” said the Head of Government of Mexico City, Claudia Sheinbaum.

During the inauguration, thousands of people showed up at the place without respecting the healthy distance, although many of them were wearing face masks.

Finally, Sheinbaum recalled that the grand canal is historic because it was built more than 100 years ago, in the time of Porfirio Díaz, to be able to draw the water out of the city.
