Emily Cinnamon Álvarez, daughter of Mexican boxer Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez, participated in the North American Youth Championship, an equestrian competition that took place in Michigan, United States, a few days ago.

Emily Cinnamon, 15, represents Mexico in a competition endorsed by the International Equestrian Federation (FEI) and has done it in a good way; however, she has denounced racism and unfair treatment by judges during the contest.

“Officers mock my friend for not speaking English”, Emily said.

“We hate the way they treated us, especially one of my friends,” shared Emily Álvarez on her social networks

“During the tournament, officers made fun of one of our team members because he could not speak English, they behaved in a disrespectful and racist way against us. They made us feel uncomfortable here,” Emily said.

According to a publication made by “Canelo” on his social networks, his daughter won a silver medal in this tournament.

“We did a 2,300-mile trip with our horses and it’s also a huge and hard work from our parents and trainers, and it seemed like they didn’t even care.

We’ll have to wait to see what happens with this situation because Canelo Alvarez might consider taking some legal action against the people accused of racism.

They made us feel like it’s a privilege to come to the United States as Latinos. Today they were racists with us. They offended us and our country, “concluded Emily.
