Embassy of Mexico in Haiti opens telephone line to help Mexicans after the earthquake

This morning there was a 7.2 magnitude earthquake in Haiti.

After the 7.2 magnitude earthquake that was registered this morning in southern Haiti, the Mexican Embassy in the nation shared an emergency telephone number that will support Mexicans who are in the Caribbean country.

The emergency number is 509-4895-7656. The line is available 24/7.

In addition, the Ministry of Foreign Relations (SRE) expressed solidarity with the Haitian government authorities.

“Due to the earthquake this morning, the Government of Mexico, through the Ministry of Foreign Relations, reiterates its solidarity with the people and Government of Haiti,” they shared on social media.

Regarding the scope, the earthquake was felt with ‘very strong’ intensity in Saint-Louis du Sud, Aquin and other towns in southwestern Haiti, while it was perceived ‘moderately’ in Port-au-Prince, ‘light’ in Kingston (Jamaica ) and ‘weak’ in Santo Domingo (Dominican Republic), according to the USGS.

The situation in Haiti after the powerful earthquake on Saturday is “dramatic”, said the prime minister of the Caribbean country, Ariel Henry, who revealed that the movement caused “several losses of human and material life” in several areas of the country.
