Mazatlán, Sinaloa. – Although the realization of Carnival 2022 is uncertain, also called ‘The maximum celebration of the Mazatlecos’, the Institute of Culture, Tourism, and Art of Mazatlán is preparing to carry it out, as reported by its general director, José Ángel Tostado Quevedo.

“The preparations continue, they are very, very pending. We have to be prepared in case there is or not, because the maximum carnival party has to have a protocol, a process where everything has to be designed and ready, ”he said.

He commented that to avoid costs, some ornaments have been recycling them for their new use, as is the case of the puppets that they place on the coastal walk and in the Machado square, as well as the arrangements of the floats that are used in the parades.

“Nowadays they have been refusing and that is what we do, in the institute we take great care, especially the puppets in the Machado square, which was used in the ‘Spring Festival’, we have been restoring everything and looking for them to work from two to not just three times in the floats and they have been very well maintained, “he said.

Carnival 2022 is scheduled from February 26 to March 1, this celebration takes place just before Christian Lent, which in turn is a preparation for Holy Week.

However, given the crisis that is being experienced due to the Covid-19 pandemic, next year’s edition runs the risk of being suspended again as it happened in 2021.
