It was around 11:50 p.m., on Friday, August 6, when a fire broke out at the Salina Cruz refinery in Oaxaca

The flames started in the “Primary 2” process plant inside the PEMEX facilities located in the Port of Salina Cruz, in the area of ​​the Isthmus of Tehuantepec.

Pemex firefighting personnel arrived at the scene to take control of the situation. The flames originated in the Antonio Dovali Jaime Refinery and lit up the night. 

Residents of this area of ​​the Isthmus, in Oaxaca, claim to have heard a loud explosion, and immediately afterward the fire could be seen more than five kilometers away.

Firefighting personnel arrived on the scene to control the fire. Minutes later firefighters from the Ministry of the Navy showed up and hours later, the fire was reported as under control.

What did PEMEX report?

Through its Twitter account, the State Coordination of Civil Protection of Oaxaca, reported the fire was controlled, shortly after it started, however, they carried out suffocation work for several hours.

Fortunately, no injured people are reported. It is expected that in the next few hours, Petróleos Mexicanos will issue a statement to determine the origin of this fire.
