The elected deputy of the Citizen Movement for the 10th district and acting councilor of the municipality of Zapopan, Mónica Magaña, presented a point of agreement at the council session to be able to create a special unit of specialized operational police equipped to act in natural areas such as Spring .
Magaña recalled that floods such as those that occurred on July 24 after the overflow of the “El Seco” stream, are mainly caused by the invasion of the protected natural area of the Forest, and the garbage and debris strip in the area that causes obstruction and diversion from natural channels.
“Our work and commitment as a government are to solve the problem from the root,” said the legislator, who stressed that said proposal is to take the first step to solve this problem.
In the proposal, it was detailed that this unit would be made up of elements that will be incorporated into the Zapopan police, and would have attributions in cases of solid waste, garbage and debris strip, alert for environmental contingencies, illegal actions in the area due to invasions and burns. in the protected natural areas that exist in the municipality; it would exercise its functions in coordination with the competent agencies and authorities.
Affected families in Zapopan floods will receive the support of 10,000 pesos
There are three types of financial support, that from the State Fund for Natural Disasters, with a resource of 16,118,000 pesos for families who lost household items.
The families of 19 Zapopan neighborhoods affected by the overflow of the Arroyo El Seco will receive financial support between Tuesday and Thursday of next week.
“We have been very punctual and we have thrown all the batteries so that this is as fast as possible and I believe that we could be delivering the checks between Tuesday and Thursday,” explained Salvador Villaseñor Aldama, coordinator of Economic Development and Combat of Inequality of Zapopan.
The coordinator reiterated that no affected family will be left without support.
There are three types of financial support, that from the State Fund for Natural Disasters, with a resource of 16,118,000 pesos for families who lost household items.
Another of the support is destined to 66 merchants whose businesses were damaged by water; with a fund of 570 thousand pesos from the State Council for Economic Promotion.
The checks will be for at least 10,000 pesos.
“Everyone, I dare to say that most of the businesses affected in the area of the accident will be served by the State Council for Economic Promotion and the municipality of Zapopan,” he said.
For more than 70 families, the financial support will have the equivalent of two months’ rent for those who had to leave their homes as a result of structural or household damage.
“We will be delivering household items and we will also be participating with some houses that are disabled to give them support for the payment of the rents of the same so that these people can exchange in some other place since right now it is not possible to live in some areas of Miramar” , he assured.
Construction supply vouchers could be awarded for homes that had severe structural damage. The coordinator assured that talks have been held with businessmen from the construction industry and the director of Public Works
“We are reaching a negotiation with them in solidarity to see if we can get them to give us vouchers for the affected people in their structures or in their rooms, made of cement, lime, river sand to also correct the damage that occurred. in this incident, “he said.
The following week it will be determined if these vouchers can be granted to families whose houses are now uninhabitable.
