The Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel (CJNG) has stood out as the criminal organization with the largest and fastest growth in Mexico, as recognized by Mexican and even American authorities.

Jalisco: Videos shared by journalists on social networks show alleged members of the Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel (CJNG) distributing mattresses and bed bases along with blankets and food baskets in towns in Jalisco.

In the recordings, men are seen wearing uniforms and vests bearing the initials of the Cartel led by Nemesio Rubén Oseguera Cervantes, also known as “El Mencho”.

Inhabitants of the area in which they deployed the distribution of objects opened the doors of their houses and allowed the subjects to enter, despite the fact that they were carrying high-caliber weapons.

Jalisco authorities have not commented on the matter. In recent weeks, the rains have affected towns in Jalisco. Entire families have lost their furniture and assets.

The name of the Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel (CJNG) is drawn behind the most recent massacres and acts of violence that have shaken states such as Tamaulipas and Zacatecas, lands where – according to media reports and analysts – this criminal group is opening the way through the extreme use of force, in a clear challenge to the Mexican State.

The Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel (CJNG) has stood out as the criminal organization with the largest and fastest-growing in Mexico, as recognized by Mexican and even American authorities.

The Mexican Government has identified this criminal group as the one with the greatest presence in the national territory, with operations in 27 states, as reported last September by Santiago Nieto, head of the Financial Intelligence Unit (UIF).

For its part, the United States Department of Justice has identified it as the “best-armed cartel in Mexico,” while a report from the Drug and Narcotics Administration (DEA) reveals that it currently has a presence in 26 cities in that country as Orlando, in Florida, Honolulu, in Hawaii, as well as San Juan, Puerto Rico.

One of the main aspects that have characterized the expansion of this criminal group is the excessive use of force and the use of technology for these purposes. For example, the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena) confirmed last April 21 that this group used drones with explosives in events registered in Michoacán, Guanajuato, and Jalisco.

Despite the advance of this criminal organization and the persistence of acts of violence, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador said last Thursday that progress has been made in matters of public security “even with the complexity of the problem we inherited.”

In his message delivered during the commemoration ceremony of the three years of having won the presidential election, López Obrador stressed that in his administration – until now – no major criminal gangs have been born.
