Air Canada will begin operating 22 flights per week to Mexico City from Vancouver, Montreal and Toronto in September.

The new flights will also give Canadians another option for flying to vacation hotspots such as Puerto Vallarta which have been very difficult to reach during the last 6 months. Travelers will once again be able to fly to Mexico City with a Canadian airline before connecting to their final destination.

Air Canada will fly to Mexico City from Vancouver 5 times per week, from Montreal 3 times per week and Toronto with 2 flights weekly.

Canada Reopening For Tourism

Earlier this month the Canadian Government announced that vaccinated travelers from all countries will be allowed to visit Canada starting on September 7th. Vaccinated travelers from the United States will be eligible to enter Canada for tourism purposes one month earlier beginning on August 9th.

After almost 16 months of being closed to non-essential travel, the Canada U.S. border will reopen on August 9th for U.S. travelers, provided that Canada’s COVID-19 epidemiology remains favorable.

Despite a slow start, Canada is now leading G20 countries in vaccination rates, with almost 80% of eligible Canadians vaccinated with their first dose and over 50% fully vaccinated.
