The Oaxaca Health Services (SSO) ask the population to reduce mobility, after the number of infections of the SARS-CoV-2 virus increased exponentially in the last four weeks, reaching a growth of one thousand percent.
It was from epidemiological week number 23, from June 13 to 19, that an increase in the number of positive cases was reported, going from a daily average of 150 to 200 sick people, until reaching 2 thousand 083 active registrations July 28.
If the exponential growth of the spread of SARS-CoV-2 is not stopped or slowed down in the next two weeks, the institution warned, the highest peak of people who can continue transmitting the viral disease will be reached, and with it, the runs the risk of increasing the saturation of hospitals.
The SSOs indicated that a total of 12 hospitals in the Health Sector had 100% occupancy in the care of patients with complications due to the virus, until the cutoff on Wednesday, July 28.
Among them are the general hospitals “Doctor Aurelio Valdivieso”, in the city of Oaxaca; that of Juchitán, “Doctor Macedonio Benítez Fuentes”; that of San Juan Bautista Tuxtepec; that of Santo Domingo Tehuantepec and that of Putla Villa de Guerrero.
As well as the Community hospitals of Tlacotepec, San Juan Bautista Valle Nacional, and Santos Reyes Nopala, as well as the Regional Hospital of High Specialty of Oaxaca (HRAEO).
The head of the unit’s Epidemiology Unit, Yuko Nakamura López stressed that maintaining all preventive measures against SARS-CoV-2 is essential to mitigate the spread of the virus, so it is essential that the population strictly apply them.
He explained that the virus, due to its genetics, seeks to reproduce, and can only do so through a host (an organism that provides shelter and/or food for another individual).

The institution reminded society that given the orange color in the Epidemiological Traffic Light in which Oaxaca is located, the essential activities can be carried out, however, they must be carried out under a strict security protocol, which entails the correct use of the mask. , frequent hand washing or use antibacterial gel with 70% alcohol, avoid crowded and closed places with little ventilation.
