Mérida, Yucatán.. – The Yucatecan businessman José Antonio Loret de Mola Gómory could have the advantage so that, on his land, of 2,000 hectares, in the municipality of Umán, the industrial corridor of the Mérida-Campeche highway, the new airport can be located, whose project promotes the federal government of Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

FUNCTIONAL AIRPORT

It has flights that connect Mérida with Miami, Houston, Havana, Toronto, Oakland, and Dallas.

In the figures, the air terminal is functional. However, the federal government is looking for a better, broader site for their relocation, which now arouses the interest of investors and also public opinion.

The new airport in the city of Mérida will be located in a quadrangle made up of the towns of Poxilá, Xtepén, Yaxcopoil and Chocholá.

According to information from the National Agrarian Registry, in that area, there are only three lands that are feasible to house a project of this size – 250 hectares each – and in freehold, that is, outside the common use lands of the Umán ejido.

These are the lands promoted by the businessman José Antonio Loret de Mola Gómory for the construction of the new international air terminal, but also for other businesses, such as the installation of a logistics center for the movement of cargo, the real business that is committed.

The lands are located less than 15 kilometers south of the Periférico de Mérida, near the border of the municipality of Umán with that of Chocholá, and have the Umán-Hopelchén highway to the east.

To the west, the land has access to federal highway 180 (Mérida-Campeche) and just where this road joins the Poxilá exit there is a La Gas gas station, a company of which Loret de Mola Gómory is a partner.

Parallel to federal highway 180 runs the gas pipeline that feeds the Hunucmá industrial zone and the railway line through which the Mayan Train will cross.

The sources consulted already foresee that the federal government will build the Mérida railway station in the area, instead of on the La Plancha land, and the fact that a couple of kilometers north of Poxilá is the location of the Railway Operations Center.
