The controversial Mexican politician and member of the leftist Labor Party (PT), Gerardo Fernández Noroña, tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday, July 26th.

In the morning he wrote, through his Twitter account, that he had “a sleepless night, but he was getting better now.

“It could be a very strong flu or the “bug”, I will not speculate, later on, I will take the test”. he tweeted.

The representative is well known for not wearing a mask and questioning it as a measure to stop the spread of COVID in the midst of the pandemic.

In May 2020, he called the use of a mask an absurd, ridiculous and inefficient measure.

Also in November last year, Fernández Noroña refused to wear a mask in the session of the General Council of the National Electoral Institute (INE), for which a recess had to be determined, and then, he was asked to leave the room if he was not willing to wear a mask.

Noroña stated that the demand to wear a face mask at the INE session was an attempt to gag and censor him.

“I bathed in cold water, as I always do. So contrary to his intrigues, if I die, I will die fresh and clean, “he wrote this morning in another tweet.
