“In the third wave of Covid-19 in the state of Queretaro, there is an exponential growth in the number of cases, which is due to the neglect of the population and the slowness to modify the routine again”, said the spokesperson of the State Government, Rafael López González.
“Act on time, today is when you should act so that later you don’t have to question yourself inside a hospital, why didn’t I do it when I could?” is the message the spokesperson sent to the people of Queretaro.
He said that until last Friday there were 1,600 active cases of the disease in the state, adding that it was on July 5 that the exponential increase began.
The spokesperson explained that the number of cases has doubled from July 5 to 12, and 306 new active cases were reported, and as of Friday of last week, health authorities reported 432, that is, 126 more than the previous week.
In addition, he assured that this increase is also reflected in hospitalizations, going from 19 to 35 occupied beds from July 5 to 11, from 43 to 72 from July 12 to 18, and a total of 110 occupied beds were reported last Friday, July 23.
“In three weeks we increased our hospitalization fivefold, and today, although it seems difficult to believe it due to the previous behavior of the disease, we have young people from 20 to 29 with serious symptoms, and we register an increase of 2.4% in deaths within this age group”, López González concluded.
