The five richest men in the country have been married, or are married, to women who have given them inspiration and who have supported them throughout their business careers.

In Mexico, there are several people considered billionaires. In the top five are Carlos Slim, who is the wealthiest man in Mexico, with a fortune that amounts to USD 55,930 Billion,

Germán Larrea Mota Velasco, who occupies the second position with a fortune of USD 27,110 billion.

In the third position is Ricardo Salinas Pliego, owner of Grupo Salinas, with a fortune of USD 12,520 million.

Alberto Bailléres occupies fourth place, with USD 10,480 billion.

In fifth position is the owner of the company José Cuervo, Juan Francisco Beckmann Vidal, with USD 7,180 Billion, according to the American media specialized in financial matters, Forbes, who every year publishes a list of the richest men in the world.

However, little is known about the couples who have supported these entrepreneurs and who have even been a fundamental part of achieving the great fortunes they have.

Carlos Slim, the owner of large companies such as Grupo Carso and América Móvil, was married for more than 33 years to a woman he met when he was 24 years old. She was only 15.

They both fell in love and two years later they decided to get married.  Soumaya Domit, who was an art lover, something that he transmitted to Carlos. Slim even had the Soumaya museum built in honor of his wife.

They had six children: Carlos Slim Domit, Johanna Slim Domit, Marco Antonio Slim Domit, Soumaya Slim Domit, Vanessa Slim Domit and Patricio Slim Domit. It is said that she was far from the stereotype of a society lady and that on the contrary, she was characterized by being affectionate and unpretentious, apart from the fact that she always cared about social struggles and helping whoever she could.

Soumaya died in 1999, at the age of 50, from kidney problems.

The second richest man in Mexico, Germán Larrea, owns a conglomerate of companies called Grupo México, which has activities in various branches, such as construction and mining. Larrea also owns his privacy, because despite being one of the richest men in the country, very little is known about him and his family circle.

Currently, there is no information that reveals exactly who he is married to, or how many children he has. Some media indicate that he has two children, but the journalist Mario Maldonado, in a column he wrote in 2016 for the newspaper El Financiero, mentions that he only has one daughter, that she is a university student, and that she lives and studies in Chicago.

For a reason, Larrea is known as one of the most mysterious Mexican businessmen of today.

The wife of the third richest man in Mexico, Ricardo Salinas Pliego, is María Laura Medina, a woman born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, and with whom she has been married for more than 20 years.

Medina decided to move to Mexico City when he was 24 years old, in 1994. He started working at TV Azteca, a company where he would meet love on the television station, owned by her later husband, she served as director of national sales for the programs produced there. However, her love for interior design, a career she studied at the Autonomous University of Guadalajara, led her to continue doing work of this type in her spare time.

In 2001 he married Salinas Pliego, with whom he has three children: Ricardo Emilio, Cristóbal Patricio and Mariano Mateo Salinas Medina.
