They warn that the signs that show Mazatlán as a center of contagion will severely damage the image of the port

Mazatlán, Sinaloa.- To avoid following the image of Mazatlán as a place of contagion, members of the tourism sector are betting on prevention and care campaigns against Covid-19.

The secretary of the Mazatlán Chamber of Commerce, Guillermo Romero Rodríguez, acknowledged that the national dissemination that a group of young people from Coahuila was infected in Mazatlán, generates a bad image for the tourist destination and the protocols that the authorities have reinforced to avoid an increase in the numbers.

He assured that the accommodation centers comply with all the protocols from the time of admission, and not only in these spaces but in all shops and restaurants, where it is mandatory to wear face masks, sanitize shoes upon admission, as well as hands with gel antibacterial, although the problem can arise on public roads.

“They are human beings, they can infect each other, that is, the disease exists not only in Mazatlán, but worldwide, they also have to have all the care and all the protocols, in Mazatlán we do not have a law that requires tourists to wear face masks on public roads, but we are making the suggestion from the moment they arrive at reception, inside the facilities it is mandatory, “he said.

In addition, he described the messages that circulate through social networks, where it is requested not to visit Mazatlán to prevent infections from spreading further, as something extreme, when the number of infections can still be reversed and the vaccine is moving forward.

For his part, the president of the National Chamber of the Restaurant and Seasoned Food Industry in Mazatlán, Rodrigo Becerra Rodríguez, mentioned that this type of accusation damages the image of the port and the protocols established against Covid-19

“It is useless to blame, I believe that everyone has to have the civil responsibility of taking care of ourselves and following the rules and not pointing fingers because they do hurt the image of certain destinations,” he said.

He mentioned that this should be taken not so much as a message not to visit Mazatlán, but rather as a call to accept the social responsibility of each person and to attend to the recommendations that are made to them in each business they visit or to which they enter during their stay. Especially since there is currently an important reinforcement by the health authorities.
