The parents filed a legal appeal with the Attorney General’s Office.

A group of 15 parents of children with cancer filed a complaint with the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) against the Undersecretary of Prevention and Health Promotion, Hugo López-Gatell, for genocide, discrimination, and failing to guarantee the supply of medications for minors.

This is the sixth complaint that the families of the minors present to the FGR due to the shortage of medicines to treat their children; however, it is the first to appear solely against López-Gatell and it is also the first for the crime of genocide.

“We should not be filing complaint after complaint so that children receive something that by law corresponds to them,” said Leslie Martínez, mother of one of the minors affected by the shortage.

The complaint was presented by the lawyer Andrea Rocha, who has legally represented the parents of the children since the first complaint and who explained that on this occasion the statements of Undersecretary López-Gatell are cited when describing the complainants as coup plotters; and accuse them of getting paid to protest against the current federal administration, as constituting the crime of discrimination.

The parents who signed the complaint went to the FGR headquarters with the lawyer, accompanied by her children who carried signs with their names and assuring that they do exist.

Rocha reported that the FGR notified them that in the complaint they filed against the head of the National Human Rights Commission (CNDH), Rosario Piedra, for the crime of abuse of authority to the detriment of the parents of children with cancer, the federal public ministry determined not to take criminal action, so it expects that next week they will request an audience with the head of the FGR, Alejandro Gertz Manero.
