Mexico City, Mexico — The Permanent Commission of Congress endorsed President Andrés Manuel López Obrador’s proposal to appoint Blanca Jiménez Cisneros as Mexico’s Ambassador to France.
Unanimously, the Permanent Commission of the Congress of the Union ratified the presidential appointment of Blanca Elena Jiménez Cisneros as Ambassador of Mexico to the government of France and concurrently to the Principality of Monaco.
Senators and deputies from all political parties recognized the aptitudes and capacity of Jiménez Cisneros, the former director of the National Water Commission (Conagua), to represent Mexico abroad.
On the platform, the PRI senator Claudia Ruiz Massieu president of the Second Commission on Foreign Relations, National Defense and Education, highlighted the professional career of the new diplomat.
“The doctor is backed by a prestigious 35-year career, throughout which she has managed to establish herself as a benchmark in areas of knowledge related to environmental engineering, climate change and water treatment. But, she has also distinguished herself by her committed work in public service in national and international institutions and in multilateral organizations such as UNESCO.”
The coordinator of the PRD senators, Miguel Ángel Mancera, highlighted the importance that France represents for Mexico.
“In 2018, bilateral trade between France and Mexico amounted to more than 4 billion dollars, therefore, this country is the fourth trading partner of ours in the European Union and the fifteenth globally.”
The Permanent Commission also received from President López Obrador the proposal for the appointment of Jesús Seade as Mexico’s ambassador to China, which was turned over to commissions for analysis.
