The Government of Mexico will raffle a luxury box at the Azteca Stadium

The Government of Mexico announced this Wednesday that on September 15 it will raffle off 22 luxury properties acquired by previous administrations that include a box at the Azteca Stadium in the Mexican capital.

“We consider the Azteca Stadium box a special award. It will be for a single winner, it is valid for use until the year 2065 and includes the maintenance of the box for 10 years,” the director reported at a press conference at the National Palace General of the National Lottery, Margarita Gónzalez Saravia.

Box A37, acquired by the Mexican Government in 1984 and with a value of 20 million pesos (one million dollars), has 20 seats, a bathroom, a kitchen, four parking spaces, and an “excellent location”. González Saravia detailed.

The Azteca Stadium, located in the south of Mexico City, is the headquarters of Club América, Cruz Azul, and the Mexican National Team, and hosted the historic 1986 World Cup match in which Diego Armando Maradona starred in “the hand of God.”

The National Lottery will draw 22 prizes, of which eight are houses, seven apartments, five lands, and the aforementioned box.

González Saravia reported that two million tickets will be issued with a price of 250 pesos (12.5 dollars), with which any of the properties can be won.

Among the properties stands out an apartment in Acapulco with direct access to the beach, swimming pool and panoramic views, and a 3,000 square meter house in the luxurious Jardines del Pedregal area of ​​the Mexican capital.

Also a 2.5 hectare ranch in the central state of Morelos and five lots in Ensenada (Baja California) located by the sea.

The draw will take place on September 15, on the occasion of Mexico’s Independence Day, emulating the one that took place last year when the National Lottery held a symbolic raffle for the presidential plane.

When President Andrés Manuel López Obrador came to power, he created the Institute to Give Back to the People the Stolen, an institution through which he has auctioned properties confiscated from drug trafficking and corruption.

At the press conference on Wednesday, the president recalled that the benefits of these raffles serve “the development of the country and the well-being of the people,” for health, the construction of roads and “help poor people.”
