With losses of up to 70 percent in their sales between 2020 and 2021, some merchants assured that the removal of the sanitary filters from the Malecón area has brought more tourists and therefore more income to their economy.
“The truth has indeed improved the sale a little, now that they have removed the filters from here,” said Martín Negrete, who works in one of the restaurants in the most visited tourist area of the municipality
On the other hand, Marcos, who has been renting horses for walks for five years, shared that they had to sell some specimens to be able to pay for the food of the rest of them: “we had to sell some ponies and other animals to feed them. others, but we hardly go up there », he commented on the boardwalk.
With the hope of increasing economic income, there is also the recovery of the lake since, since last year, the lack of rains, the low water of the present year, and the extraction for the Metropolitan Area have brought the lake levels below half its capacity.
“It is going down, the people from Guadalajara are taking it,” says Martín Negrete.
