On May 19, the FGR requested an arrest warrant against the governor of Tamaulipas, Francisco García Cabeza de Vaca, derived from the accusations that the former director of Pemex, Emilio Lozoya Austin, made in the Odebrecht case, which was granted by the Control Judge Attached to the Federal Criminal Justice Center located in Almoloya, State of Mexico, Iván Aarón Zeferín Hernández.

But on Monday, June 7, a federal judge indefinitely suspended the arrest warrant against the governor of Tamaulipas for crimes of organized crime and operations with resources of illicit origin.

The eighth district judge with residence in Reynosa, Tamaulipas, Faustino Gutiérrez Pérez, decided to grant the definitive suspension for considering that the social interest should be protected over a particular case, but the publication that appears in the list of agreements does not elaborate on the resolution.

However, he had previously resolved that there were sufficient doubts to consider that the governor of Tamaulipas could retain the constitutional jurisdiction so that an arrest warrant could not be executed against him.

At the hearing to resolve the definitive suspension, neither the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) nor the defense of García Cabeza de Vaca were present, according to the official report.

“THE FINAL SUSPENSION requested by Francisco Javier García Cabeza de Vaca, against the other responsible authorities, and with respect to the arrest warrant issued against him, and in the terms specified in the second considering paragraph, is definitive,” says the text of the suspension.
