Bank of Mexico Governor denies that loan for Fertinal was approved during his tenure, as AMLO says

Alejandro Díaz de León explained that the loan for the purchase of Fertinal was approved on October 27, 2015, one month before his arrival at Bancomext.

The governor of the Bank of Mexico, Alejandro Díaz de León, rejected that the approval of a loan for 9 billion pesos for the purchase of Fertinal, granted by the National Bank of Foreign Trade, occurred during his administration as director.

In an interview with Mexican journalist Joaquín López-Dóriga on Radio Fórmula, he responded to the statement made on May 24th by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador about the Fertinal plant case, a scandal of the previous administration.

The Mexican president publicly accused Alejandro Díaz de León of approving that transaction as director of Bancomext.

However, Díaz de León explained that the transaction was approved on October 27, 2015, while he was appointed director of Bancomext on November 25, that is, one month later. How could he approve anything when he was not even there yet?

He also specified that he was not part of the collegiate body that authorized the loan, as he insisted, he arrived at Bancomext 30 days after that loan was approved.
