In San Pedro Totolapan, in the Southern Sierra of Oaxaca, elements of the Mexican Army and Civil Protection continue with the cleaning and removal of debris after the landslides caused by the recent rains.
“In San Pedro Totolapan we have a partial impact on 15 homes and a total of five homes that are in the riverbed of this ravine. We as the State Coordination of Civil Protection have to make the request for a declaration of emergency and disaster, we will see the response that they give us at the national level, ”reported Siddharta Luna Hernández, in charge of Oaxaca Civil Protection.
Despite the damage to homes, no family was transferred to temporary shelters.

Civil Protection reported that the rains also affected some 50 homes in the Papaloapan Basin region.
On the coast of Oaxaca, the alert is maintained for a phenomenon of the deep sea, which causes swells and drag currents in different points of the Oaxacan coast, among them, Puerto Escondido.
One of the points where the phenomenon of the sea in the background is most strongly observed is the Zicatela beach.

On this beach there are waves up to five meters high and only professional surfers are allowed to enter.
Even tourism service providers have reduced their hours of operation, because, in the afternoons, the force of the swell is greater.

According to the State Coordination for Civil Protection, this phenomenon will affect the coasts of Oaxaca until May 22.
And although some beaches do not present as much swell, the return currents can pose a risk to the population.

The alert for the deep sea is maintained along more than 500 kilometers of coastline, from San Mateo del Mar, to Pinotepa Nacional.
