Illegal hunting continues in all of Mexico’s National Parks and Natural Reserves

A group of men dedicated to the illegal hunting of endangered species posted photographs on social networks of the deer and rabbits they killed in the Izta-Popo National Park.

The men were identified as residents of the community of San Nicolás de los Ranchos, a small town located on the slopes of the Popocatépetl volcano.

In the photographs you can see a group of approximately four individuals carrying rifles along with two deer and four dead rabbits.

The images have caused outrage, especially from animal protection activist groups.

The General Law of Ecological Balance and Environmental Protection is the highest environmental law law in Mexico, which establishes that hunting is prohibited in all National Parks of the country.
