THE NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF ANTHROPOLOGY AND HISTORY INAH ANNOUNCED:
The archaeological sites of Tulum, Quintana Roo, and Palenque, Chiapas will remain without access to the public until further notice.
The National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH) reported that the archaeological sites of Palenque, in Chiapas, and Tulum, in Quintana Roo, will remain closed to public visits as of last weekend and until further notice.
The temporary closure of the archaeological parks is due to a couple of suspected cases of Covid-19 in both sites, which forces the authorities to carry out the corresponding cleaning, as well as to quarantine possible cases of contact, as indicated by the sanitary guidelines, expressed the INAH in separate press releases.

“For the Ministry of Culture and the INAH, it is a priority to guarantee the health of all personnel working in the archaeological site, as well as that of visitors to their cultural venues, so the Institute will continue to implement the essential sanitary and hygiene measures to ensure that their spaces are safe to visit”, INAH stated on the press release.
