In the middle of mountains, Mazamitla offers a great variety of nature activities.

The Magic Town of Mazamitla, in the state of Jalisco, is called “the Switzerland of Mexico”, although for us it has a unique charm. This nickname is due to the fact that it is located among the beautiful forests of the Sierra del Tigre natural corridor.

Due to its location, Mazamitla enjoys a cold climate almost all year round, and it is an ideal destination for a family vacation.

Walking through the center of Mazamitla is the first thing to do in this Magic Town. It is made up of small cobbled streets surrounded by adobe houses, painted white, double-pitched tile roofs, and flower-upholstered balconies: a picturesque set perfect for taking pictures.

After touring the streets of Mazamitla, in the center of town, it is also possible to visit the Parroquia de San Cristóbal, which is an eclectic building with Chinese influence, so it is a unique church in the region, according to the Visit Mexico site.

In addition, in the downtown area, it is possible to sit on the benches and taste some of the typical dishes of the town such as “el Barco”, which is a broth prepared with beef, chicken, and pork, which you can complement with fruits of keep as a dessert.

You also have to visit the food and crafts market, a few blocks from the church. This is the place to buy rich burnt milk sweets, beautiful textiles, and souvenirs woven from dry pine branches.

In the Archaeological Museum pieces of pottery and carved stone that were made by the first settlers of this Magical Town are exhibited.

Those who visit the “Switzerland of Mexico” can also discover the natural wonders of the area, such as the El Salto Waterfall, the Sierra del Tigre and the Enchanted Garden, natural areas open to the public.
