“Zumba” returns to Merida parks

The municipal courts will once again host the Mérida en Acción program

MÉRIDA, Yucatan.- After entering the Yellow Traffic Light, physical activation in the parks of Mérida will be possible again from this Monday, May 3, for those who like to exercise.

In this way, the municipal parks and courts will once again host the Mérida en Acción program, which will return to its physical activation classes in person in morning and afternoon shifts.

It should be noted that Mérida en Acción takes place in more than 80 parks located in neighborhoods and police stations in the city, and in the first stage, the classes will be taught in 16 venues.

As part of a first reactivation, access to 20 people will be allowed, depending on the space of the park or court.

The physical activations, which will include yoga and tai chi, are given free of charge. 

How to register as a ‘citizen activator’?

The “citizen activators” will have to register at the Social Welfare Directorate, located on Calle 65 between 40 and 42 of the Center, from Monday to Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

On average, between 60 and 15 people attend each physical activity, depending on the park and the schedule, in the morning between 7 and 8:30 hours and in the afternoons between 17 and 19 hours.

Parks in which there will be activation

The parks that will have the service in this first stage are: Ciudad Caucel, San José Tecoh, Fraccionamiento del Parque, Pez Volador, Arboledas Park, San Sebastián, Poniente Ecological Park, Mulsay Park and San Francisco Chuburná Park.

Likewise, El Roble park, El Alemán park, Los Héroes court, Las Rampas park, San Gerónimo, Capilla Park and Bepensa Garden, which will have health and safety measures.
