Through inspections and the creation of the Manual of Recommendations for the Care of People with Disabilities in the Tourism Sector, the State Government seeks to promote inclusive tourism in the Magical Towns and other tourist spots. Such is the case of Ajijic, the ninth Magic Town of Jalisco that was visited on March 11 to inspect that it complies with universal accessibility.

About these activities, this was said by the Secretary of Tourism, Germán Ralis Cumplido:

“For Jalisco, inclusive tourism is a priority in which we are working so that our tourist destinations are increasingly prepared to receive visitors and tourists with disabilities, so that they are not only cared for correctly, but also that they enjoy our state to the fullest. ”.

The Manual of Recommendations for the Attention of People with Disabilities in the Tourism Sector was created by the Government of Jalisco, through the Secretariat of Tourism (Secturjal) and the Undersecretary of Human Rights of the General Secretariat of Government.

The manual is a free digital tool that is aimed at personnel who have the first contact with this sector of the population in the tourist destinations of Jalisco so that they are better prepared to receive it. This can be downloaded from the official website of the Secturjal.

As for the training, they will be offered two a month, face-to-face and/or virtual, in tourist municipalities for free. The first dates will be: May 4 in person in Cuastecomates, the inclusive beach of Jalisco, and on May 18, it will be virtual for Puerto Vallarta.

The undersecretary of Human Rights, of the General Secretariat of the Government, Gerardo Ballesteros de León, mentioned that “the document is supported by the legal regulations at the international, national and state level regarding accessibility, inclusion and non-discrimination of People with Disabilities such as the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities of the United Nations Organization and the State Law for the inclusion and integral development of Persons with Disabilities in Jalisco, it should be noted that the application of the tools embodied in the document are based on the guiding principles of horizontal responsibility, the concretion of communities of practice, and the generation of human rights promoters ”.

Additionally, the contents were perfected by representatives of civil organizations of People with intellectual, motor, visual, psychosocial, auditory and multiple disabilities, to ensure their correct implementation in daily life.

It is important to highlight that in February the universal accessibility project was launched in the Magical Towns of Jalisco, which consisted of eight inspection visits during 2020 and one in 2021. Thanks to them, diagnoses were generated to identify areas for improvement and intervention proposals. that the municipalities may carry out on a voluntary basis to guarantee that they comply with the official technical standards in this matter.

In addition to the reviews in Lagos de Moreno, Mascota, Mazamitla, San Sebastián del Oeste, Talpa de Allende, Tapalpa, Tequila and Tlaquepaque in 2020, on March 11 of this year a diagnostic visit was made to Ajijic, the ninth Magic Town of Jalisco.

Additionally, on February 17, 2021, a diagnostic visit to Cuastecomates was made.
The manual and the training are part of the inter-institutional project that will pay for the universal accessibility of Jalisco’s tourist destinations since it is aligned with the State Program for the Inclusion and Integral Development of People with Disabilities 2019-2024.

The contents were perfected by representatives of civil organizations of People with intellectual, motor, visual, psychosocial, auditory, and multiple disabilities, to ensure its correct implementation in daily life. For more information about the training, write an email to the corresponding area of the Secturjal: alma.guerra@jalisco.gob.mx
