Two Honduran migrants are murdered in Huimanguillo, Tabasco

Villahermosa, Tabasco (Abril 22, 2021).- Two Honduran migrants were killed and another three wounded, on Tuesday night, with a firearm by subjects who tried to assault them when they were walking along the train tracks that cross the municipality of Huimanguillo in this state, authorities reported.

They added that the people were hit around 8:00 p.m., local time, by two subjects who were traveling on a motorcycle and who attacked the group.

The attack was committed shortly after eight o’clock at night in a region recognized by migrant defense organizations as high risk for those social groups that enter the country through the border with Guatemala.

The migrants injured with a firearm are: Eliezer Joaquin Sosa Madariaga, 27, who had a bullet impact in his right arm; Yondi Renan Rojas, 32, with a gunshot wound to the right leg and Gerson Obany Reyes Sánchez, 23, injured at the level of the left rib.

While the two deceased have not yet been identified.

The community of Estación Chontalpa is considered by the authorities of Tabasco, as a high-risk area for Central American migrants who continually suffer attacks as they pass through the entity, in addition, the criminal organization Cartel Jalisco Nueva Generación operates in the region, and a band dedicated to huachicol smuggling.

After the events, the Attorney General of the State of Tabasco (FGE), opened an investigation file.
