Mazatlán, Sinaloa.- The United States Department of State issued a travel advisory for some entities in Mexico, including Sinaloa.
The state was placed on the list “Level 4: Do not travel” in the traditional count of warning to its nationals published by the State Department, both for high crime risks and for the pandemic
The notice was posted on April 20, on the website www.travel.state.gov. In the case of Sinaloa, it was recommended that travel by US government employees be limited to certain areas.
For example, in Mazatlán, it recommended traveling by air or sea, they are only limited to the Golden Zone and the Historic Center of the city and must use direct routes when traveling to and from those places and the airport and cruise terminals
And although the general alert not to travel is for the entire country, in the analysis by states only Colima, Guerrero, Michoacán, Sinaloa and Tamaulipas are at level 4 and have a recommendation not to travel.
While in 11 Mexican states the alert remains at level 3 orange, which means reconsidering travel. The states are: Chihuahua, Coahuila, Durango, Jalisco, Mexico, Morelos, Nayarit, Nuevo León, San Luis Potosí, Sonora and Zacatecas.
In the rest of the states, including Mexico City, the recommendation is level 2, yellow, which means extreme precautions.
According to information from the Mazatlán Secretary of Economic Development, Tourism, and Fisheries, there are between 8 and 12 thousand foreigners who reside in Mazatlán during this winter season, of which about 6 thousand are Canadians.
