According to the results of the National Urban Public Safety Survey (ENSU) corresponding to March of this year.
The INEGI published the results of the National Survey of Urban Public Security (inits ) for March this year. There, three Tamaulipas cities were measured and one of them has the second-lowest rating in the country, which is why it is considered the second safest city in Mexico.
The survey makes the comparison between December 2020 and March 2021 in the cities of Tampico, Reynosa and Nuevo Laredo.
It was indicated that Nuevo Laredo was the city of Tamaulipas that had an increase in the perception of insecurity since it went from 58.8 percent to 67.2 percent.
In Reynosa, there was a small reduction, going from 77.9 to 76.3 percent, which is why it is considered the city with the highest perception of insecurity in Tamaulipas.
Finally, in Tampico, there was also a reduction in the perception of insecurity, going from 37 percent to 25.1 percent of the population that considers living in that city to be unsafe, thus being the lowest figure in Tamaulipas and the second safest in Mexico.
The National Institute of Geography and Statistics (Inegi) indicated that the cities with the lowest perception of insecurity were: San Pedro Garza García, Tampico, San Nicolás de los Garza, Los Cabos, Piedras Negras and Mérida, with 8.2, 25.2, 26.2, 26.2 , 29.4 and 30.3%, respectively.
In general, 78.4% of the population feels insecure at ATMs located on public roads, 71.2% on public transport, 63.4% at the bank, and 59.2% on the streets that they usually use.
