In Chiapas, 8 active forest fires are reported in different parts of the state, one of them is located in the vicinity of the Sumidero Canyon, which is attacked by land and by air, with Elivalde helicopters.
The incident was registered initially last week and is now located in the area known as El Palmar, in front of the La Coyota viewpoint, one of the highest points in the area.
Helicopters from the Ministry of the Navy joined this Monday, April 19th, as well as helicopters from the state’s Civil Protection Secretariat.
According to the National Commission for Protected Natural Areas, the forest fire has consumed adult trees in an area of 120 hectares and is expected to be controlled in the next 24 hours.
