Long live Mexico! Sor Juana of 100 pesos wins the prize for the ‘Banknote of the year 2020’

The 100 peso bill was awarded by the International Bank Note Society (IBNS).

The 100 Mexican peso bill won the ‘Banknote of the Year 2020’ award granted by the International Bank Note Society ( IBNS ).

“Almost from the beginning, Mexico’s new 100-peso polymer banknote largely led the vote, followed by the 20-pound entry from the Bank of Scotland in Scotland, ” the IBNS announced.

Banco de México was both the printer and the issuer of this award-winning design note and is part of the bank’s current Series G presented in 2018.

This year only 24 tickets were considered to be a nominated member.

Among the elements that make up the ticket are:

-The image of Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz, an important poet and writer of the colonial era.

-The Old College of San Ildefonso.

The reverse of the banknote represents the Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve.

-It has security elements such as: multicolored denomination, transparent windows and growing folio.
