In the group of rescued migrants there were at least 50 Hondurans and 10 minors.

Tamaulipas authorities reported that they located a group of 260 people who were seeking to cross into the United States without documents, in a dangerous border area where at the beginning of the year a score of Guatemalan migrants were kidnapped and burned.

The group, mainly of Mexicans who were waiting in several rooms of a hotel, was found in two operations implemented in different parts of the Camargo municipality during the last hours, reported the Tamaulipas State Secretary of Security.

The authority added that in the group there were also at least 50 Hondurans and 10 minors who did not specify nationality. All were placed in the hands of the National Migration Institute, he added in a statement, without giving further details.

For many years, Tamaulipas was one of the main routes for migrant smuggling, but it also became the scene of the worst massacres against them.
