After 12 years between obstacles and changes in construction companies, this highway in Oaxaca seems to finally be put into operation.

Lazcano Vargas explained that in a dialogue with the federal and state governments, the conflict with San Vicente Coatlán, belonging to the Sierra Sur, was resolved, so work continues for the construction of the Barranca Larga – Ventanilla highway.

The inhabitants had taken the highway for more than two weeks to petition the authorities for various demands, preventing the work.

“The construction of the Barranca Larga-Ventanilla section has an investment of 6,800 million pesos,” explained the Secretary of Infrastructure.

The construction of this highway will reduce the trip from the Central Valley region to the Oaxaca Coast from 6 hours to 2 and a half hours, and it is expected to be completed in the first half of 2022.
