Guadalajara: Fire continues in La Primavera Forest at the area known as Las Canoas


Wind conditions have not favored smothering the fire

Work continues to fight the fire that has been registered since 11 in the morning in the La Primavera Forest Protected Natural Area in Las Canoas, the state secretary of the environment Sergio Graf reported that they are working under the command system of incidents with the state agencies and civil protection of Zapopan, Tlajomulco and Tlaquepaque on 5 fronts with 350 elements, 76 vehicles, and 5 helicopters, the aircraft has made more than 250 discharges of water. So far there is no risk to the population, the closest point to the fire in an urban area has already been controlled.

Guadalajara municipal authorities report at the moment 15 agents injured by radiation which are out of danger, on 2 fronts the fire is more complicated by the downwind at 60 km per hour, in the area of ​​ravines there is a greater risk for personnel, the municipality of Zapopan distributes food, supplies, and everything necessary for the Civil Protection staff, so it is not necessary for the population to give them food. Until now, it has not been possible to quantify the affected hectares or the extent of the fire, the atmospheric alert continues to be activated for the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area.

Access La Primavera is closed

On Friday, April 2, access to the La Primavera Forest was closed through booth 1 Mariano Otero and booth 2 Río Caliente and Tinajitas, access is only allowed to the “Picnic” area, within the La Primavera ejido.

Sergio Graf Montero called on people who visit forest areas not to use fire, “we are in a truly serious situation of lack of humidity and drought in the state, therefore the risk of forest fires is very high”. In addition, those who carry out agricultural burns are asked to do so through the burning calendar in coordination with the corresponding municipal authorities.
