Guanajuato seeks commercial exchange with Texas

In order to promote the economic development of Guanajuato, the commercial exchange of local products and the identification of business opportunities for the state, the local secretary for Sustainable Economic Development, Mauricio Usabiaga Díaz Barriga, made an official visit to the city of Dallas, Texas.

The trip is the result of an international cooperation effort with the purpose of promoting innovation in economic sectors, generating linkage strategies, and promoting Guanajuato and the region, as well as finding spaces for their products with the largest distributors and marketers in the United States.

During the work tour, Usabiaga Díaz Barriga held meetings with Tommy Wilkins, director of sales and business development of the company Grow Farms Texas and counselor of the United States Secretary of Agriculture, as well as with the directors of Fresh Avenue and Green Light Fresh to discuss the business ecosystem of the state’s agri-food sector, promote the poles of economic development and competitive advantages that the state of Guanajuato has to offer.

Food industry

As part of the tour in Dallas, the secretary visited the Viva Fresh Expo forum, considered the most important business event of the agribusiness sector that takes place in the southern United States, where he had the opportunity to meet and talk with large companies on the exportable offer of Guanajuato based on the innovation of the agri-food sector, as well as on the solutions and digital platforms that the American industry is generating to detect the supply that exists in Mexico and in the state, and with this, have the opportunity to streamline transactions between the producer and the supplier, avoiding intermediaries.

During the forum, the Coordinator for the Promotion of Foreign Trade of the State of Guanajuato ( Cofoce ) participated with a stand in the exhibitor area with the aim of increasing the state’s food exports and generating greater strength in the distribution channel for the products offered, developing business opportunities for Cofoce certified producers.

It should be noted that Guanajuato is one of the pioneer states in having a Food Health and Safety Program, through a set of certifications that companies in the agri-food sector must have in order to serve the North American market.

On this work tour in Dallas, the secretary was accompanied by Alejandro Hernández Fonseca, local undersecretary of Investment Attraction; Arturo Nieto Sánchez, director of Economic Strategy and Communication (SDES) of Guanajuato, and Luis Ernesto Rojas Ávila, General director of Cofoce.

With these actions, the SDES aims to continue promoting the state and deepen more about the benefits that the entity can offer to the North American market in order to generate more opportunities for state companies.
