Crowds at the Mexico City Airport could trigger Covid-19 third wave

México, City, (March 29, 2021).- Despite the Covid-19 pandemic and the SSA’s (Ministry of Health) warning of the possibility of a third wave, hundreds (or maybe even thousands) of travelers thronged the Mexico City International Airport (AICM) before the start of the Easter holidays.

The Ministry of Communications and Transportation (SCT) announced that the sanitization of the different rooms will be intensified, the temperature will be taken in the access filters and there will be antibacterial gel for users.

Brigades were also deployed at the facilities that will tour the corridors and entrances to urge passengers to follow the measures to prevent Covid-19 infections.

-Sanitization will be intensified during Holy Week in the last waiting rooms, passenger arrivals and departures corridors, food areas, offices, information modules, bathrooms, and in operational areas such as platforms.

-Enough antibacterial solution will be available at all times.

-Take of temperature in filters of access to waiting and boarding areas.

-Through the paging system, videos, posters and on the airport’s social networks, users will be recommended to wear a mask at all times, keep a healthy distance, wash their hands frequently and use antibacterial gel.

  • The collaborators, who will carry out their work with sanitary measures, will be located in strategic places such as passenger inspection points (review filters) of the two airport terminals, they will be able to identify themselves by their jacket with the word INFORMATION, and they collaborate during business hours. between 07:00 and 22:00.
