Puebla, Pue. (March 22, 2021).- The Zócalo of Puebla is completely besieged, the wall was installed early Monday morning as part of the works promoted by the Puebla city council derived from an initiative in charge of the Secretariat of Agrarian, Territorial and Urban Development (SEDATU) of the Federal Government.

The wall can be seen surrounding the main square. The wooden wall partitions this space at its different crossroads.

The municipal authorities assured that it is a preventive and corrective restoration, although commercial sectors opposed the work derived from the adverse effects that it could cause to the influx of clients, which would further hurt the economy of the Puebla downtown area, that has already suffered from the Covid-19 pandemic.

The justification for the placement of the site in the Zócalo, details that it seeks to “avoid inferring informal economic activities around the area.”
