MÉRIDA, Yucatan.- The construction of the new Amazon logistics center in the municipality of Umán presents general progress of 35 percent, so it is expected that in a few months it will start operations.

The site will become the first in the southeastern region of the multinational company dedicated to the electronic commerce of computer goods and services.

This is how the warehouse would be finished.

This Wednesday, accompanied by the director of operations of Amazon Mexico, Diego Méndez de la Luz, Governor Mauricio Vila Dosal confirmed the work being carried out as part of this project.

In this framework, it was reported that, as part of the collaboration that exists between Yucatán and the multinational firm, the State Government and Amazon will strengthen their strategic alliance to promote the growth of local small and medium-sized companies, as well as Yucatecan artisans.

Yucatecan sales on the platform

As a result of this coordinated work between the state government and the multinational firm, personnel of micro and medium-sized companies have been preparing to increase their sales through this electronic platform, with the aim that they can access the national and international market.

To date, workshops have been given to sell on Amazon, training a total of 284 companies, of which 60 percent are from the food and beverage sector, 25 percent are from the textile sector and the remaining 15 percent belong to diverse sectors, such as handicrafts, cosmetics, cleaning and hygiene products, among others.

During the tour, the director of operations of Amazon Mexico, Diego Méndez de la Luz, affirmed that with the start of operations of this Center it will be possible to offer better service to customers and greater proximity to local companies and artisans.

In addition, same-day services can be provided to nearby communities such as Mérida, Umán, Progreso, and other surrounding municipalities, and there will be the next day delivery modality for Campeche, Bacalar, and Chetumal, as well as to improve the service in Cancun, Playa del Carmen, and Tulum.

In the country, there are 7 of these centers, of which 5 are in the State of Mexico, 1 in Jalisco, and 1 in Nuevo León, to which is added this one in Yucatán and another that was just announced for the state of Mexico.
