INAH and the Yucatan Peninsular China Association formalize cultural collaboration agreement

The National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH) and the Asociación China Península de Yucatán AC signed, in compliance with health protocols, the academic and cultural collaboration agreement that aims to establish coordination between these institutions.

This agreement formalizes various common efforts aimed at interdisciplinary meetings of an international order in branches of anthropology, archeology, architecture, work in museums, and cultural dissemination, which have been carried out since 2017.

Likewise, it reinforces the twinning of archaeological sites and museums in Mexico and China, such as the Uxmal archaeological zone of the Mayan culture and the Sanxingdui archaeological site of the Second Chinese Empire.

The event was led by Eduardo López Calzada, director of the INAH Yucatán Center, and Bai Yi, director-president of the Yucatán Peninsula China Association and representative in Mexico of the Guaungzho province of China; Also present were José Arturo Chab Cárdenas, Head of the Legal Department of INAH Yucatán, Bernardo Sarvide Primo, director of the Palacio Cantón Regional Museum of Anthropology, José Huchim Herrera, director of the Archaeological Zone of Uxmal and Ruta Puuc, Marco Antonio Santos Ramírez, director of the Archaeological Zone of Chichén Itzá and Dr. Fidencio Briceño Chel, research linguist at the INAH Yucatán Center.

For his part, López Calzada sent a greeting to the cultural and academic community of Yucatán, by Diego Prieto Hernández, general director of INAH, from where he derives the instruction to continue working in favor of the dissemination of cultural heritage, specifying that this signature It will allow scientists to approach in favor of the dissemination of the cultural heritage of Mexico and China.

In this regard, Bai Yi addressed a message in Mandarin Chinese, where he spoke of the friendship of both countries, thanked on behalf of the association for the joint work and coordination with the INAH that has been carried out in the framework of the 49th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the People’s Republic of China and Mexico, signifying the strategic importance for the Asian country of this agreement with INAH, which is the most important cultural and academic institution in Mexico.
