The US issues health and safety alert for trips to Mexico during Easter

Americans should reconsider their non-essential travel to Mexico during the Easter holiday period due to the health emergency of COVID-19, the United States Embassy and Consulates in the country reported.

“Cases and hospitalizations remain high in most of Mexico,” the embassy noted, noting that consular services, such as emergency passport appointments, are limited in many places due to the pandemic.

The US office also recalled that land crossings are restricted to essential travel until at least March 21, 2021.

For those returning to the United States by air, he noted, they are required to present a negative COVID-19 test carried out no more than 3 days before their flight departure.
