Mazatlán, Sinaloa. – The Mazatlán City Council will seek that the foreign community over 60 years old that lives in the port is included in the vaccination scheme against Covid-19 that is carried out in the state.

The director of the Tourist Care and Protection Center (CAPTA), Astrid Macías Fregoso, indicated that some Canadians and Americans stayed in this city to avoid the obstacles and logistics of traveling to other countries during the pandemic.

And is that the majority are of advanced age, in addition to requiring medical examinations to travel to their places of origin. Although others did decide to go to get vaccinated in their country.

“Their main concern is to see how the application of the Covid-19 vaccines will work in Mazatlán, which both DIF and Social Welfare are carrying out, and this is part of the socialization of inclusion so that they too are considered”, she indicated.

Macías Fregoso said he does not know the number of foreigners residing in the port, since it does not have a census, but through the registry, they carry out for the application of the vaccine against Covid-19 they will determine the number of Canadians and Americans who are in the city.

She added that the municipal administration remains attentive to the proposals made by foreign residents to provide the help they require.

There are between 8 and 12 thousand foreigners who reside in Mazatlán during the winter season, of which around 6 thousand are Canadians.

Flights from United States destinations to this port have decreased, while those from Canada were canceled until April.
