The commission approved to decree in the Penal Code a new criminal type in order to grant protection to people who are discriminated against because of their sexual orientation, specifically to the LGBTTTIQ population (Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, transvestite, transsexual, intersex and queer). ).

The legal asset that is sought to protect is life.

Likewise, the protection of legal equality seeks to establish in the social order that all people have the same freedoms and rights that the Mexican State recognizes, protects, and guarantees.

In the opinion, the deputy Francisca Abelló Jordá, Pedro Alonso Villegas Lobo, Jesús Angélica Díaz Quiñónez, Flor Emilia Guerra Mena and Mónica López Hernández, president, secretary and members of the Commission, respectively, voted in favor.
