Tamaulipas will take steps to build a new international bridge in order to increase trade between Mexico and the United States.

Governor Francisco García Cabeza de Vaca said that the border crossing is being sought for Nuevo Laredo and thus strengthen the municipality as the mainland customs office in Mexico and Latin America.

García Cabeza de Vaca attended the ceremony to protest the new 2020-2021 Steering Committee of the Association of Customs Agents (AAANLD), which will be chaired by Yolanda Malagón Medina, the first woman to hold this position in the organization that brings together about 400 partners in that city and that is part of the Confederation of Associations of Customs Agents of the Mexican Republic.

Within the framework of the event, the Governor promised to carry out all the necessary steps and actions for the construction of a new international bridge in Nuevo Laredo.

“On the part of the Tamaulipas government, we are going to carry out all the necessary steps and actions to ensure that a new bridge can be built in Nuevo Laredo. It is about giving you the necessary instruments to be more competitive, attract more investment, develop more job generation and wealth. I am convinced that it is possible and that there are many interesting sectors,” said the governor.

Nuevo Laredo is considered the mainland customs office in the country and in Latin America. Through its crossings, particularly the III World Trade International Bridge, 40 percent of trade between Mexico and the United States is recorded, with up to 16 thousand cargo trucks crossing daily.

The president of the Confederation of Associations of Customs Agents of the Mexican Republic, Arturo Reyes Rosas, recognized the support of the Tamaulipas government to facilitate trade in all state customs, especially in times of the covid-19 pandemic. 19.
