The 7 crew members of the plane died after collapsing near the El Lencero airport, about 13 km from Xalapa, Veracruz.

Xalapa, Veracruz (Feb. 21, 2021).- A plane of the Mexican Air Force (FAM) crashed this Sunday, Feb. 21st, near the municipality of Xalapa, Veracruz, which caused the death of 7 people, all crew members.

The accident was registered around 10:00 am this Sunday in the vicinity of the El Lencero airport, about 13 kilometers from Xalapa, where it would apparently land.

The aircraft, a Lear Jet 45 with registration 3912, fell into a crop, splitting in two, and immediately caught fire.

Members of the Xalapa Fire Department, as well as personnel from the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena) and Municipal Civil Protection rushed to try to put out the fire with the help of buckets of water, as seen in videos posted on social networks.

The first reports indicate that 7 people were traveling aboard the plane and all died during the accident.

The Ministry of Civil Protection of Veracruz reported through Twitter that task forces from the three levels of government are at the scene of the incident attending to the incident.
